Fido’s New Year’s Resolutions

January 1 2017

Happy New Year! Are you making resolutions for 2017? If so, your dog will be cheering you on with tail wags and doggy kisses as you strive to meet your new personal goals. But if Fido could make resolutions, what do you think would be on his list? A Conway, SC vet offers a few educated guesses below.

Playing isn’t just fun for Fido: it’s also great for him! A fun session of fetch will get your canine friend up and moving. This may not be an issue when your dog is young and energetic, but it’s very important in older pooches. You don’t want your four-legged pal becoming a furry couch potato! Playing also burns off your pet’s excess energy, and lets him channel any angst or anxiety into a healthy outlet. Help your pooch make this goal by giving him lots of fun toys, and taking time to play with him regularly.

Dogs spend quite a bit of time sleeping. In fact, Fido may sleep up to 12 hours a day! This is a great lesson we can learn from our furry companions: it’s important to make sure you are getting enough sleep. Help your adorable buddy out by getting him a comfy doggy bed.

Enjoy The Little Things

It doesn’t take much to get your canine pal’s cute tail going: treats, belly rubs, and even simple walks are among the best things in life as far as Fido is concerned. Take your pooch to a park in 2017, or just indulge him with new toys and healthy snacks.

Spend Time With Your Loved Ones

Man’s Best Friend has many wonderful traits, but his unabashed adoration and love of his human buddies is definitely one of the best. Fido really wants nothing more than to spend time with you, and, of course, to score as many belly rubs and ear scritches as possible. Spend lots of quality time with your four-legged buddy this year.

More Treats!

Fido definitely has a healthy appetite! Make sure your pup is getting good, nourishing food. While the occasional treat is fine, you don’t want to go overboard with fatty snacks. Ask your vet for nutritional recommendations. Please contact us, your Carolina Forest, SC animal clinic, for all your dog’s veterinary care needs in 2017 and beyond. We will provide your beloved pet with excellent care!
