The internet has a lot of pet information—some great, some… not so much. To make things easier, our team at Waccamaw Regional Veterinary Center has gathered a few trusted resources we regularly recommend to dog and cat owners in Conway, Carolina Forest, and nearby areas. We hope you find them useful between visits.

Healthy Pet by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)

Healthy Pet is an excellent, veterinarian-reviewed resource from AAHA. You’ll find clear, reliable guidance on everyday pet care topics like preventive care, nutrition, behavior, common illnesses, travel tips, adoption, and more. There’s even a section designed for kids with fun, animal-focused activities.

Veterinary Partner

Veterinary Partner offers easy-to-understand information on pet health, behavior, first aid, medications, and medical conditions. If you’re looking for a trustworthy place to learn about symptoms or treatment options, this is a strong starting point. You can also browse their “Pet Connection” content and submit questions to veterinary professionals.

PetPlace

PetPlace is a large, well-organized library of veterinarian-approved articles covering wellness, nutrition, behavior, aging pets, and more. It’s a helpful site for pet parents who want to dig a little deeper into health topics, and it also includes heartwarming stories and practical tips for everyday care.

ASPCA Animal Poison Control

This is one of the best resources available for poison-related emergencies and prevention. It includes a quick reference list of common plants and substances that may be toxic to pets, plus guidance on symptoms and what to do if you think your dog or cat has been exposed to something dangerous.

Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB)

Losing a pet is incredibly hard. The APLB provides compassionate, free support for families grieving a beloved animal. Their trained volunteers offer guidance, counseling resources, and a community space for those navigating loss or end-of-life decisions.
